Coatings for infrastructure projects
Infrastructure coatings are specified in decades, not years. Once a structure is in service, getting access to recoat it is expensive and disruptive, so the system that goes on at the start has to last.
We coat infrastructure components from our Dandenong South facility, working to the design life and specification the project requires.
Systems built for design life
Our protective coatings cover zinc, epoxy, polyurethane, polysiloxane and polyaspartic systems from PPG, Dulux, Jotun and Hempel. Polysiloxane in particular holds colour and gloss far longer than conventional topcoats, which is why it turns up on projects where repainting is not a realistic option.
On the High Capacity Metro Trains project we applied a PPG three-coat polysiloxane system with a 25 year design life across 265 pantograph components.
Anti-graffiti and public exposure
Anything at ground level in a public space gets tagged eventually. Anti-graffiti systems let paint and marker be removed without stripping the finish underneath, which turns a recoat into a cleaning job.
We applied a two-coat polysiloxane system with anti-graffiti properties to mild steel cladding for the Thomastown Railway Station upgrade.
Preparation, access products and reporting
Preparation is done by abrasive blasting to the standard the specification calls for. Our corrosion protection service covers inspection, testing and reporting, so there is documentation behind the finish.
For works access and footpath reinstatement, road plates are coated with Rocbinda for slip resistance.
