Coatings for medical equipment

Medical components are usually small, precise and unforgiving. The coating has to do its job without building up enough thickness to affect a fit, and it has to survive repeated cleaning and sterilisation.

We coat medical components from our Dandenong South facility under an ISO 9001 accredited quality management system.

Clean release and low friction

Where surfaces need to release cleanly or slide without binding, our non-stick coatings and dry-film lubricants both apply.

Xylan covers release, corrosion resistance and wear as a fluoropolymer system, applied by a Whitford Quality Approved Coater. Ever-Slik 1301 is a bonded solid film lubricant where friction is the main concern.

Corrosion resistance and thin films

Film thickness matters when tolerances are tight. Zinc Flake gives high corrosion resistance at low film thickness with no hydrogen embrittlement, and is compliant with ROHS and ISO 10683:2014.

For threaded components, fastener class coating runs through phosphate, blast, spray, dip spin and oven facilities in-house.

Masking and measurement

Precise masking keeps coating off the surfaces that have to stay bare, which is routine work for us on machined and assembled components.

Coating thickness is measured as part of the process, wet and dry, with documentation available where the specification calls for it.
