Coatings for the rail industry
Rail assets are expected to last, and taking them out of service to recoat is expensive. That pushes the decision back to the original specification: get the system right at the start and the asset looks after itself for decades.
We coat rail components and station infrastructure from our Dandenong South facility.
Rolling stock components
On the High Capacity Metro Trains project we coated 265 pantograph components in a PPG three-coat polysiloxane system with a 25 year design life.
Polysiloxane holds colour and gloss far longer than conventional topcoats, which is why it suits components that are visible, exposed and difficult to access. Our protective coatings cover the full range of zinc, epoxy, polyurethane and polysiloxane systems.
Station infrastructure and anti-graffiti
Anything at platform level gets tagged. Anti-graffiti systems let paint and marker come off without taking the finish with them, turning a recoat into a cleaning job.
For the Thomastown Railway Station upgrade we finished mild steel cladding in a two-coat polysiloxane system with high corrosion resistance and anti-graffiti properties.
Preparation, fasteners and documentation
Preparation is by abrasive blasting to the standard the specification sets. Threaded hardware goes through our fastener class coating line, with dry-film lubricants where friction matters.
Our corrosion protection service covers inspection, testing and reporting under an ISO 9001 accredited quality system.
